Hi,
Just doing a bit of research on KAD rear discs and was wondering if anyone uses them on the road. Itll be going on my starlet mini with 8.4" vented metro discs on the front. So any info on how they perform would be good. Ill be using the car in anger mainly for hillclimbs and sprints.
And can people say how much they paid? As KAD tend to get a bit antsy as theres a KAD dealer over here. Just to compare the prices.
Cheers,
Joe

Joe.

Done about 1600 miles in the van with my KAD rear setup. Very happy with them. Good response and firm pedal using Silcone Brake Fluid.

KAD use the pads from a Suzuki GS650 motorbike, along with motorcross discs which are very small but very effective.

I have EBC Red Stuff pads fitted. They are ok for road but I have had to make and fit an adjustable bias valve from a standard fixed pressure reducing valve. This allows the internal spring pressure to be adjusted in order to reduce the fluid pressure feeding the rear, no lock up with this.

Pad wear is ok. Not expecting to change for another 1600 miles. About £50 UK to buy the pads (2 x m/cycle sets required).

In all honesty, I only fitted the KAD rear discs because I managed to find a part used set for £250, thats about £400 off the KAD price and with a bit of cleaning and fettling they came up a treat.

Lost alot of weight from the rear (I also made a beam using the original Speedex drawings and cut the knuckles off the rear radius arms as they're not needed) and there's no brake adjusters to keep an eye on.

See the thread below for info and phots; However, please note that Black EBC pads are generally road pads, Green are usually fast road/race, Red are usually race (but work well with mine) :

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

Thanks for the link Richard. The rear setup on the van is pretty much exactly what i want. Except probably specialist compenents rear trailing arms instead. And itd be cheaper for me to buy rear discs new over there and get them shipped privately. The mark up on KAD gear is massive.
