Well after having my BMW twinky turbo engine stolen from my lockup as some of you may remember. I am now going to build some far less exciting.

I have not got loads of money to spend so the plan is to either supercharge a 1275 (3complete engines one with unleaded head) or go for a turbo or SC 998. (A block in need of a centre main cap and a cooper head with no valves)

I am open to anyones thoughts, what should I go for? Money is an issue as I spent loads of money on the twinky and can't affort to use more money lol

I have a MS1 and WB kicking about as well

Would I have less chance of blowing a standard gbox with SC setup as they the power delivery is more gradual?
I am thinking 1275 SC..... using mega pistons with not too low CR and try and keeping it torquey with a lowish boost or with the gbox take more/less power with SC setup. Would it be worth intercooling?

I can use the MG metro cam in one block, unleaded head from the other.... I have both verto and non verto clutch setups.

What clutch could I get away with?
Could I use MS and inject just before (possibly after) SC similar to carb setup, surely the charger would give a fairly even mixture across the 4 cylinders?(i know if i use a intercooler this may have to be different due to filling the cooler with fuel)

I can fabricate manifolds and brackets etc for SC or turbo at work without any problems.

Sorry for my ramblings above. Just some of my ideas/thoughts.... so go for it give me the welth of your knowledge below.

Big question that many will be asking. What was the outcome of the Twinky affair?

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

NO go basically police tried their best and pretty much they would not be able to prove in court that it is mine.

Unless they find it in his possesion, they are working from a couple of poor pictures they have from ebay server.

They know it's mine just by the detail that i can describe it and the catalogue of pics I have. The gearbox went to hungry and they have very little power to get it back.

They are still chasing a few little things which might help... but very unlikely.

So I'm stuffed... no engine....no compensation and pi$$ed off

That's shit mate.

I'm building a suck through supercharged 1275 using a SC12 charger from an early MR2. Not exactly a budget build, but should leave me with about 120 bananas...

I guess a standard box with straigh cut drops would survive that.

Ah shit!

One with the new! Have a read of Andy500's threads, makes some interesting reading on supercharged engines :)

thats dog shit mate, i hope you end up getting somthing back.

i'd have to say I'd steer clear of the mega's.

in your boat i'd say keep it simple, use what you have where possible and do a simple sc setup with injectors into the inlet of the charger (as you have the MS anyway)

clutch wise a grey would be fine maybe even an orange, but i do have to recomend sticking two springs in a verto, give a good pedal feel IMO just use the thinest ones you can find.

two things that arnt cheap but i would say get if you can are a twin pin diff and sc drops.

''Well after having my BMW twinny turbo engine stolen from my lockup as some of you may remember. I am now going to build some far less exciting.''

much comiserations mike ,that just sucks .

''I have not got loads of money to spend so the plan is to either supercharge a 1275 (3complete engines one with unleaded head) or go for a turbo or SC 998. (A block in need of a centre main cap and a cooper head with no valves)''

''I have a MS1 and WB kicking about as well''

weirdly , id do the 998 turbo ,sell the ms1 and use a carb , or go down the hybrid code thingy a la paul ,and rod .

i can probably sort you out with a 998 block ,caps etc for nothing

''Would I have less chance of blowing a standard gbox with SC setup as they the power delivery is more gradual?''

in my experience ,a normal heli box will last until around 135 lbs ft ,so i feel you could use a heli with a 998 for a fair while .the heli drops iv used up to enough power to run 106 mph in the 1/4 in a 750 kg car ,so i think they ll be fine on a 998 ..

''I am thinking 1275 SC..... using mega pistons with not too low CR and try and keeping it torquey with a lowish boost or with the gbox take more/less power with SC setup. Would it be worth intercooling?''

its allways worth intercooling .id use the 998 pistons with a dish in .

''I can use the MG metro cam in one block, unleaded head from the other.... I have both verto and non verto clutch setups.''

can you use the mg cam in the998 with a spaced oil pump ?

''What clutch could I get away with?''

single grey ,and turbo plate cheap as .

i think thats the cheapest way to have some fun mike .
whatever you do ,good luck with it ,you deserve it .
