whats the easiest way to mod an estate tank for turbo? Is there a union of some sort that u can drill a whole in the tank and stuff the union in and when tighting it clamps the other side of the tank, like a pop rivet does.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Not really. nest way is to have some pipe brazed in. I got a feed and return done for a tenner. only the same as saloon tank really.

really? would that not create some weird flow issues at the T or introduce air in the line?

i've been using a Tee piece for my return, works really well. jukka sent me a few pictures of his setup and if its good enough for him then its more than good enought for me!

Keans(T2clubby) doing his estate with a Tee piece aswell. i've got a spare one here if you want me to chuck it in with the head?

here's the photo jukka sent me, he's running twin tanks but the principle is still the same, basically it goes: tank---T piece---filter---pump-----reg

Sorry to rise very old posts but I red elsewhere on this site that the fuel line must be bigger than standart to prevent fuel surge (slurpy slurpy !)
Correct me if I am wrong but here, from each tank to the first T piece, everything is standart ?

So except if you run twin tanks, there is still need for some brazing on the main line (let alone the return).

The whole stuff behind that is that it is difficult to source SPi or MPi fuel tanks as those are the last on the market ...

I'm not sure how you can say MPI and SPI tanks are hard to source, I've never had a problem buying SPI ones, and MPI ones are also out there if you keep an eye out.

Hi,
I think the post you're referring to says the return should be bigger than the feed, as far as the pipes from front to rear go...
Personally I'd mod the tank for a bigger outlet pipe regardless, but as stated above, the standard tank and the tee piece work fine :)
If you're going to run twin tanks you'll have tank mods to do if you use a Spi tank.
Cheers,
Gavin :)

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

i didn't enlarge the outlet on my old tank neither has kean on his estate. we haven;t had any issues because of it. The only problem i've had is the std filter on the pick up pipe clogging.

Thanks everyone !

Then standart outlet it will be !

Can't find a tank for the last three month on the website I'm using here in France and anyway, people there seem to believe everything Mini related is worth it's weight of gold ...

Plus I do have a brand new fuel pump that I had for free so if I can avoid buying a tank just for a bigger hole ...
