But is this wheel nut the type as used on the mini special (exacton) wheels?

No! The 'Special' wheel nut looks like this:

What you have looks like a Rover 12" steel wheel nut
(long type w/ plastic washer for hubcap fitment)

Fastest A Series Mini in the World

leeds/wakefield.

ive done a bit of development/reserch on the minispecial wheel and nut combinations,

and iv'e found an easy cure,
if you cut a seat with a big 60deg countersink, you can use the latest taper washer nuts from the sportspack wheels,

if werre to cut the seat untill it shows about 5-6mm width the nuts are just the right length stopping 2mm or so from the rear ,
