just a quicky, can anybody tell me why the plenum has the ram inset fitted (its quite restrictive of flow or am i wrong?) ive removed it as im modifying it, and notice there is already a ram-type stub-stack already cast into the SU flange on the inside.

do you mean the restrictor?

If so, you're car won't run without it as it ensures that the fuel pressure in the float chamber is higher than the charge pressure.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

you need the restrictor ring in there no ifs or buts with a carb set up
or you engine will not run correctley!

Turbo Dave did an excellent write up on why! .. plese do a search

ive changed the boost-in pipe, and changed the profile of the box'y shape to more of a high-flow barrel type desight (used the metty plenum as a base platform.)

a pitot tube can be used in place fo the restrictor if plumbed in correctly, again ought to come up in a search.
