Wickford Essex

With my engine spec what do you guys think is the maximum boost i should use ?

i dont have the time or the knowledge to keep replacing head gaskets or worse.

I now have a 6 position electronic boost controller so will only use max on very rare occasions *happy*

A+ Block with fresh rebore
Turbo Crank Lightened and Balanced
Standard Conrods Lightened and Balanced
New Turbo Pistons with 14cc Dish
New Morspeed 11 stud Turbo Head with 29cc Chambers
New ARP bolts used in Head and Conrods
New Phase 2 Avonbar Camshaft and Heat Treated Followers
New Alloy Vernier Pulleys, duplex chain and new tensioner
Lightened Flywheel
New Grey Diaphragm
New Paddle Clutch plate
New clutch master cylinder, new slave cylinder, new clutch arm and braided hose
New release bearing
New Straight Cut Gearbox, using a clubman gear set
New Timken Roller Bearing Straight Cut Drops
New Kad Internal Gear Linkage and Quickshift
New front mounted 10 Row Oil cooler
New KAD adjustable oil pressure regulator

looking at that is the t3 and the size of the Ic will limit max boost if every thing is ok but what type of pistons are you using also.

but 16 psi will do for now

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

if thats what seems to be a 7.7:1 cr then a lot of boost ,20 psi odd sohuld be safe on good fuel ,eg v power .dont know what the new bore is so i assumed 1293cc ...plus 20 overbore .

Just looking at the spec,

14-16 sounds fine and would safe and fast enough.

you can always go for more later.

Did you fit a centre main strap?

BTW - I took my buddy VTEC Pete out for a spin this weekend, and even though I am running her in, he gave it a name, the "Brocket"...cause I'm a brocket maaannn, nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah....

As robert says it looks like the compression is going to be around 7.7:1 (i also seem to remember a fig of around this from when it was being built)

at 7.7 your not likley to run into det issues due to too much boost untill the boost starts getting very hot, which is also unlikely with that intercooler.

probably the weakest link is the pistons (Which are still pretty sturdy!)

I think i would be setting the boost controller to give a wide rnge of settings, from a nice docile 5 psi to 22psi in steps, with them a bit together at the top end so you can edge it up a psi at a time on the rollers.

somthing like 5,7,10 12, 15, 18,19 20,21,22

That sounds like a good plan joe , have 6 settings so 22 at 6 working down to 5 ish ?
