Ok this is a bit of a strange and probably stupidly easy question but i'd still like peoples advice.

Whats the easiest way to roll a mini estate onto its side?

I dont have access to a jig and need to remove all the old crap to etch and stone chip it properly.

thanks

Old tyre on the sill and a carpet on the lip of the roof, just lean the whole thing against a wall.

thanks but i've already read that link, i would like to know HOW you roll the car over?

Do you just put a jack under 1 side and push it the rest of the way?

thanks

Pure brute strenth! or two people pushing from the lip of the roof then when the sill reaches waste height grap the sill lift it rest of the way.

Easy. I did it on my own, but thats coz im double hard.

I did mine by myself, several times.....

And I'm an old git, hardly the fittest on the planet.

If you are rolling just the shell (no subframes etc.), it really is quite light.

Rolling onto its side is easy, rolling back onto the floor is a bit more lively.... I cable tied some 3"X2" to the brackets under the floor - the ones the Kwikfit monkeys think are jacking points - to avoid any damage rolling it back.

I saw somebody on another forum with a ratchet strap from the side you would lift on to something solid beyond the other side then just racheted away and over it went.

Long straight, hard right and a bit of hand brake should get it on it's side.

Feel free to steal the idea, but you can't steal the wood, I've burnt that since to keep warm *happy*

My idea was to be able to roll the shell back onto its base without damaging the sills then be able to drag it across the garage to roll it on the other side.

I did end up using steel ties as the nylon cable ties broke quite often.*frown*

What are the brackets for in the corners of the floor??

If i recall correctly (the ones that look like jacing points) they were for when the shell was on the production line

Do you mean the ones by the heal board hidden under the sills? If so I'd leave them alone as they help take the load from the rear subframe.

No the ones in the floor corners half hidden by over sills (well at one side only now).
