went out in a turbo mini for the 1st time at the weekend, not one off here but i did tell him to get signed up!
couldnt belive the difference between that and my n/a 1380, 1st and 2nd gear felt the similar except for loads more torque steer, but 3rd gear onwards just pulled like a train and nothing like mine.

spec wise all i was told was, 1293cc on a t3 @14psi and around 160 nanna's

i think i mite have to turbo mine now!

Yeh,

I took a neighbour out in the mini this week end and he said when I put my foot down that it was like someone had let a beast out of a cage….he was quite impressed, and said it really puts you back in your seat in 3rd and 4th! and he drives a 911 every day and rides a busa at the week end ! So not a bad complement?

He thought the dump valve sounded great,

I'm running 11 PSI on a T3'd 1310.

I think my mini needs a 5th gear, or at least I will be fitting my 3.1 instead of the 3.2 Final drive.

You won't regret it once you turn turbo. :)

Cheers

Brocky

BTW - I took my buddy VTEC Pete out for a spin this weekend, and even though I am running her in, he gave it a name, the "Brocket"...cause I'm a brocket maaannn, nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah....

14cc accralites, h beam con rods, wedged and bladed crank, phase 2 cam, full on benross head, titan roller rockers, t3 will push the boost to around 16psi when i get used to it. it should be enough for now lol

I had my first trip in a turbo'd mini yesterday. In richard's (turbominivanman) van, it was ballistic, was like being kicked in face. Loved it! Cheers Richard!!

I'm biding my time.

I'm shoving a all out n/a 1380 in the mini for the moment, and collecting parts and then intend to jump straight on the 16v turbo wagon.

lol, i can still remember when i first booted the car with the turbo fitted, .....
...... it scared the crap out me, i almost crashed due to the torque steer and sheer acelleration round a corner and i couldnt stop grining for 5 days *happy*

i floored it through part of aston late at night and when it popped and shot a burst of flames several guys dived behind a brick wall as it sounded like gunfire *Shooting*

Hey Steve,

Yeh I just shipped it over last month, 2 years apart, I don't no how I survived....:)

Getting back into it big time, trying to do all the stuff I wanted to do before the move,

Motor is running well and all your work is really showing

I'm gonna get a quaife diff (hopefully to reduce the torque steer) and up the boost to 14 or so. Definately got the bug again...

and to all you guys considering going turbo, don't wait, like some said above, I was grinning for a week and saying to my self "F*ck its quick!"

Cheers

Brocky

Ps hows the 1380 monster going ?

Yeh everything here seems to have different names

the little mazdas, the mx5's ? are called myartas or some thing here...

Truck is nice and V8 sounds well with stainless pipes :)less than 20 mpg tho, but not complaining at 1 pound 60 a gallon !

Hey Nic, when you switched to a quaife, did you find much of a reduction in torque steer in the lower gears ?

It was a lot better when booting it, instead of before when it would flap around under acceleration, now it just squats and shoots forward in a straighter line

Sounds nice, thats sold it to me,

At the moment in mine if you boot it to over take you don't need to steer to pull out if your not careful !

Cheers

Well that is all part of the fun...:)

I guess the main thing is you get more of your power down, and in more of a controlled manner.

I guess it will light up both tyres now when you burn out ? like a conventional lsd ?

BTW, the s/s plenum is holding up just fine after 3 years :)

Indeed it will, impressive 11's can be left everywhere!! (but dont leave them outside your neighbours house...)

Glad to hear the plenum is doing well, give it some abuse!!!
