Right guys after deciding turbo power is a far better option than supercharging I have been looking at my options and unfortunately I am even more confused as to what I need lol

I have an initial budget of £3500 but I don't care how long or how much it costs lol

I have nothing to start with so need pointed in the line of what parts and where? It seems there is no exact formula to getting a 200bhp mini.

I assume 1293 is the more sensible option as it's leaving more in the bores and ie more boost?

I have looked and the minispeed concept package and avonbar package too. Is it possible/finacially sound to start with these??

I know you guys must get sick of asking these questions but the more research I do myself the further back I get lol

I have hopefully got my hands on a Metro Turbo and manifold, would I best get this refurbished?? I also assume mappable ignition is highly reccommended??

Thanks in advance guys, seem like a real helpful bunch on here *happy*

^^^^ that site has all the answers well compacted - here there is potentially too much info...

In short: Spend 400 quid on a set of forged pistons. Use lightly worked A+ rods with ARP bolts. Use standard head gasket and head studs to keep costs down. Use standard crank (balanced of course). Buy a Benross or Turbo-phil head.

Now spend the money you've saved by NOT buying exotic parts, or from a 'name' shop to purchase a new, quality turbocharger (ie a Garrett GT series).

You also need to think about a transmission - but that's all in your court. At the very least, get a 4-pin diff.

Send an email to jim@sheepspeed.com and buy his engine, as he's planning something bigger and better I believe... *wink*

I bet my first wank came quicker than your first mini turbo

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

Will email him, the spec of his current engine is very impressive.

Would standard gasket and bolts be up to the job?

Have been reading turbo-mini, very interesting..

Thanks guys :)
