Hi, been fitting megajolt to the mini today, but am getting a bit confused with where to connect the rev counter and after searching it has made me more confused!

I have a Smiths rev counter (RVC), can i connect it to the tacho output on the megajolt plug, or does it need the diode circuit, or do i have to drill the edis plug and take a feed from there?

Any help much apreciated so i dont muck up my neat wiring ive been trying to do!

Cheers

In the fitting instructions it says not all rev counters work from the tacho output on the megajolt plug, does anyone know if mine will, before i dont run any wires into the cab from the coil pack?

Well mine did. Where have you put the mega jolts? personly i would run one from the MJ to the tacho and see. I put mine in the glove box so cabling was easy.

Mine doesn't work from the MJ. I will be wiring it straight into the Edis.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

Hi there retro racer,

Could you tell me which way around you wired up your rev counter please ??:)

I'm just about to wire up my rev counter as well.

I have a smiths one in the 3 clock binical. It has a black white wire and a light green / orange going to it.

The black white was from the old coil -ve and the green orange is from the white wire from the fuse box / ignition switch, so I guess this is 12v +ve.

Did you put the megajolt tacho out to the +ve (spade) ??

Also did you just ground the -ve side (i.e. Blk/w)

Cheers

Just put the megajolt 'tacho out' where the black and white wire is goin at the minute, then the green/orange is switched live, so yeh 12v +ve. Then if there is a earth spade on the tacho put this to earth somewhere on the body or if not, earth the rev counter through one of the mounting bolts.

Hey Retro,

I just got around to running a wire from the MJ tacho out to the round connector on my rev counter, and Hey presto it works....:)

Thanks for the info, It's great when things just work, especially when you have been given the right advise.

Yet another problem solved by the number on resource !

Many thanks

Cheers
