That looks like a nice setup. Too bad you're using a rip-off of the Megasquirt (kdfi).

Are you using the Siamese code? If so, it would be nice to see what configuration you have.

Although it's obviously stolen, the Manual refers to MegaTune which means it can't run the siamese code ???

TBH Jean, for people like this I wouldn't be interested in their configuration.

It makes me think twice about posting results on an open forum.

OK, I don't have too much to post yet, but when I do, I'll seriously think about restricting the info.

I understand your point Rod, but that's a bit harsh.

If I had the option of an ECU with good local support then I would think hard about it. MS is OK in the english speaking world, but otherwise support is probably sparse.

My concern is that he does not appear to be monitoring AFRs on inner and outer cylinders. My own trials with the standard MS/Extra code "worked" but I would not have risked a turbo on the engine with the lean outer cylinders.

I'm not so sure Paul.... look at what happened when Patrick wrote a bit of additional code for traction control.

The key people at Megasquirt roundly condemmed him and deleted his code from the forum.

And he was making no attempt to sell it, he was just trying to help others.

Once people take the code and sell it (whether it be Jean's or an early version) my view changes.

I really don't understand the "licencing" issues but clearly something is wrong here.

Surely the issue is with K-data?

Does not mean that we should not support people who are only trying to do the same as us, but may have unknowingly bought an ECU with a dubious background.

I'm not sure it's too harsh either. The problem is that the kdfi people and anyone else who does the same are mainly leeching off the MS project and racking in the money using other people's work without contributing anything.

And they can sell a relatively cheap product because they don't have to invest time or money to have a proven solution: they just copy what works on MS. So they don't have any risk, only the rewards.

And while it might seem harsh to criticise someone for using such a product because it may seem logical for reasons such as support, packaging or whatever else, if a significant percentage of people were doing the same the official MS would die off and then everyone would suffer the consequences. The leeches would not be the ones continuing the development.
