Aberdeenshire, scotland.

Looking for some advice,

Just taken my mini turbo for a run.

It seems to miss a little bit at low revs then it comes on boost its fine.

Any ideas on things I should check?

Thinking it could be electrical but iv been told it could be dashpot oil?

Cheers

James

it could be all sorts of things, mine started like this, then kept wiping out headgaskets, the end result i think the ring-lands went

99.9% certain it was too lean and causing det i never did a full post mortem stripdown, i just flogged the lot witch i regret ever since

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

Hmmm,

Iv just had the car rolling roaded and it putting out decent power i would say for a standard engine (101bhp at 8Psi).

Its just had fuelling and timing done etc. And apparantley engine seems fine.

Hope its nothing serious....

Also just noticed it does it when you have the car in neutral.

I you try and hold it at revs it seems to do it a bit too.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

if the mixture is fine go for the coil first and check the dizzy cap and leads

if the plugs show white re check the mixture,

it could be a host of things ?

I think mixture must be fine, just put it away to be set up and rolling roaded so hope so. Will chekc plugs though.

Il start by doin the electrical bits like that.

As you say, could be tons of thing. Guess its just a process of elimination.lol

Had a look at plugs. Greyish brown colour so they look fine to me.

Using NGK BPR6E. Is that a decent plug to use on the turbo?

Im sure most standard N/A engines would use BPR6's im using BPR7's at the minute... could try some 7's?

Try cleaning all the coil connections (spade connectors too) and spraying some WD40 on the HT leads, give the spark plugs a clean and make sure they are gapped correctly (0.8mm i think?) if this doesnt work then try and eatra engine earth strap (mine needed one because it was misfiring) just make a length of wire with 2 ring connectors (thick cable) and temporarily put them on a decent earthing area. (one on the engine and one on the car body) ... if this fails try using a different oil in the dashpot, (i use automatic transmission fluid) i tend to find that 3 in 1 doesnt work too good when it gets hot... AND if this fails try a leak detector on the inlet manifolds (the one where you spray it onto the manifolds and the engine revs up if its leaking)...

hmm using the wrong coil can give you problems but if i remember correctly thats only with injection minis... cause they work differently somehow. just make sure it has a good blueish spark.. if its orangey then its generally weak

Put a new coil on. A DLB198 and the misfires gone now.
