Angle grinder! Stick it in just below the top lip, but skip the ends and middle bit where the jacking point is/should be. Get them with a chisel or shears. Then just fold it down and hack the rest off, then tidy it up with grinding disks and flap wheels. Piece of cake.

Plenty of pic's half way down this:

Yep just as apbellamy says. I use a 1mm cutting disc on my grinder and cut just under the sill lip. Then bend this back and use a sharp chisel top break the spot weld that hold it to the floorpan. Simple.

Thin the bits that are left behind with the grinder then peal them of with a pair of pliers, like you're opening a tin of spam.

If you are taking all the floors out, then brace in both directions

I use ordinary grinding disks to get the majority of (as they are cheap), then clean it up with a flap wheel.

I'm getting to the point where I need 3 grinders to save me time swapping the tools accross

I've only ever seen half floors (full length but left side or right side halves) with sills pre-attached.

But why ???

If you have so much welding to do that you need to weld a complete floor in, the extra work in welding the outer sills to the floor is small - and floor sections and sills seperately are a lot cheaper.

....in which case MiniSpares sell half floors with sills attached.

But seperate half floors and seperate sills are a lot cheaper especially if you use another supplier who only sells them seperately (I just bought some from DSN for my second project).

http://www.dsnclassics.co.uk/acatalog/DSN_..._Panels_52.html

You'll find floor halves about 1/4 way down (I can't link to individual items on their website). I use them because they are local to me (so I could collect them), not sure what carriage charges would be for such large items but I guess that's true for anyone unless you have a specialist local to you where you can collect.

I haven't fitted them yet Matty, they are in the back of my LandRover waiting for the second project.....

They are made by Magnum who do a lot of the non-genuine Mini stuff.
A lot of the panels I had from DSN for the first project were Magnum and all their stuff I've used so far has been quite reasonable for fit.

These must be from fairly new dies as well as all the corners and the ribs along the floor etc have nice clean, square edges.

When I first looked at them Dave Senior (the DS part of DSN) said he had used them on his daughter's car and had found them a good fit and I "think" that's the shell that's now with John K.

If you want any close-up photos of any particular areas, just let me know.
