I was wondering while my shell is stripped is there any little mod's i should do while i have the chance?
I was thinking things like welding up the drainage holes in the floor.
I am going to have an internal gear shift so i am tempted to block that up as well.
I plan to run brake and fuel lines internally so i may chop off all the tabs and crap under the car.
Also the jacking points seam to be a water trap one has gone all ready so may loses the rest.

some slightly bigger changes like cutting out the rear bins and seats, i will be fitting a cage so this should make that easier but haven't got a huge amount of time to be fanning around with it.

If you have done any little tricks yourself that has made life a lot easier in the past, or you think some of the thinks above are stupid please let me know

Cheers

Inner head lining rail if you don`t want a head lining. Tub the rear arches. Flat boot floor perhaps?

I'm getting rid of the battery box in favour of a bracket for a gel battery.

I'm fitting a fibreglass valance too.

There are some brackets at each corner of the floor for moving it around during production, they can go.

Andy Fiberglass!? you feeling ok?

Was thinking of flat boot floor and no bat box, chop the seat and stick the battery in there, but jump starts would be a twat! and it needs to be piratical......ish

also not tubbing the arches as it not going to be that slammed speed bumps ect.

and headlining will be going back in.

I am not that fussed about wight saving more connivence/anti rust

To anyone who has removed the headlining rail, where have you cut it out? and was it just a case of getting stuck in with the angle grinder? would it be possible to send me a picture as thats something i want to do to mine. Thanks in advance.

As for mods break out the hole saw and swage and make holes in everthing if your going for the light weight approach. you could even cut out the rear seat base extension if your doing the rear bins as well.

Bottom of the the door hinge panel where it meets the bottom of the A panel and front of the door step. This is where water gets in and rots out the front of your sills. The panels but up here but are not sealed. *wink*

Cheers Josh, I have replaced both sills and the panel in question and have made sure they are nicely sealed *smiley*

Why wouldn't you like to keep the battery where it originally is?

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

I'm using a Gel battery, so have ellected to move it further up onto the boot floor and loose the battery box. Primarily for weight reduction, but also to remove the box from the flow of air under the car. I will be 'boxing in' the under side of the subframe with ALU sheet so wanted to make it as flat as possible.

Ive moved my battery to above the wok. You may aswell get the weight over the front wheels if you're going to move it. You save plenty of weight in cable too. *wink*

That's not a bad plan Matty. Any pic's?

The vast majority of the ellectrical stuff is at the front anyway, so no point having it in the back...
