Thinking of putting the gearchange mechanism inside the car i have a small idea of how to do it from looking at other posts but has anyone got pictures of how to modify the linkage where the universal joints go etc?

Cheers matt

"so you can lower the car lots"

It's not usually the gear linkage that's the problem, it's usually the exhaust.

How is it much quicker? I guess the gear leaver can be shorter. On the hillclimber we have a normally mounted selector and I defy you to do a quicker change than we get on that.

This is baffling me the gear link isnt below the floor on mine and a quicker gearchange because it is inside I dont thinkso , maybee it is because the heater keeps the change rods warm!!!!!!!

Well reason im doing it was because the exhaust tunnel on my car seems to be a different shape so rod change mechanism wont bolt into it without modifying the exhaust tunnel, so thought this may be the answer.

The most common reason for doing in internal gear change is so that it can be moved back further into the cabin if the seat is moved a long way back.

Also it feels firmer and is a lot more protected on the inside.

mine was done so the exhaust could be moved up closer to the underside so the car can be set really low, bring on those bends.

Likewise, mine behaved very badly though. Never cut and shut a stick, also use 2 UJ's. If you try otherwise, it will be a pain. Zorst fits nice, esp in a Mk1 tunnel.

Bugger off, I'm getting there.
