Hello,

What is the function of the switch at this picture?

Is it to to check the existence of enough fluid in the brake circuit?
Or is it to bring the signal for the brake lights, like the mechanical brake switch at the brake pedal?

Regards,
Andreas

I can't see your photo but if it is the switch on the dash, the light is a low fluid warning and the switch is a circuit test to ensure it is working

There is a connection at the twin line brake valve (on the front bulkhead). I think it has the same function like this:

LOl o lol o lol.

I had a huge debate with our Ausie friend about these valves and the other 'pressure regulating' valves *hehe!*

The valve pictured above is called a PDWA (Pressure Differential Warning Actuator) valve.

Its prime function is to stop flow of brake fluid to the front or rear circuit in the event of a total failure on either circuit. The switch is simply there to tell you that the valve has been actuated and that there is a problem with the balance of braking pressures. That is all the pictured valve does. Unlike the other valve *hehe!*

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Thanks, Sprocket!

And when this "brake light switch" is in the brake circuit (where the brake pipe is mounted at the front subframe), which signal gives this part?

Is this also for failure message, or can i take this one for the rear brake lights?

The switch on the banjo fitting at the front rignt flexible hose on early Minis is for the brake lights. On Later models they fitted a crappy plastic switch to the pedal box. I have replaced mine twice now.

Just a thought on this. The switch on the PDWA valve is a deflection switch, not a pressure switch as pictured.

Just noticed your other topic on the Moke and spotted a PDWA valve on there *wink*
