AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!! HELP

So I have rebuilt the carb, fitted a brand spanking new ignition module, new dizzy cap and rotor arm - still no luck.

I will swap the coil tommorow, just wondered if any one else has any ideas. Turbo Dave - have you any other ideas I could try?

On the other hand if any owns a car crusher, I will pay for a days hire...

Once again cheers for your help and time. *crying* *crying* *crying*

Just read some old posts and checked my wiring to the coil can you please let me know whether this is right or not...

Pink & White wire going to the + side of coil and solid white going to - There is also a yellow and white wire joined to the pink and white one on the + side.

Not sure if this right, kinda hope it is wrong and solves my damn problem. Cheers guys.

Can't quite remember but should the pink/white or the yellow/white wire be connected to the coil, not both?

I seem to recall one is for ballasted ignition and one for normal. Have to check a wiring diagram to be certain.

Probably not much help - sorry :)

isn't the pink wire the ballasted one? pretty sure it is. try taking a new postive feed straight from the fusebox instead of using the pink wire and see if that sorts it.

Or if you want give us a shout and we can pop over this weekend and have a look for you, we've gotta pop over to a mates in cannock at some point anyway.

Yellow and white is for 12v constant coils.

Pink and white is ballasted to run on 6v in normal running but give 12v (stronger) spark while starting.

If you are running a Metro Electronic Ignition system (ignition module on side of dizzy) then you need to get the correct coil to suit it (ask for 1989 MG Metro from a motor parts supplier) and run it using the yellow/white wire only.

Well chaps think we've done it! Removed the pink and white wire and replaced it. Took a live from dizzy straight to coil + and the other from dizzy to coil - . Then I have taken a + from fuse box to + on coil. Job Done.

My mini is 1989 and had the pink and white wire.

Took it out for 3/4 of an hour and no problems whats so ever. Could do with rolling roading now.

Keep fingers crossed taking out for a long drive when weather picks up. Thanks guys!!! Will let you know how I go.

I can't thank you enough, I was just going through the list one by one, and the thing that was the problem was the last one. If I had read it backwards I would of got there alot sooner and saved you alot of time n effort.

Cheers mate, I knew you would know!!!
