ok decided to start with the gearbox and gonna build it myself but if anyone can help that would be great, was thinking of uprated diff pin and minispares cross pin diff, with straight cut gears and central oil pick up, bit confused about all the lingo drops need uprating etc, if someone could post a pic with it all labeled 1st to 4th etc etc i would really appreciate it, also i'm gonna use 10" wheels does the diff play a part in the final drive or is this calculated purely on the gear ratios (also what ratios are best) sorry about all the questions but this is the best place for answers as no-one tries to sell you anything and everyone seems nice unlike most other forums cheers*smiley*

The diff makes the greatest difference in the overall gear ratio.

There have been more than a few hotly debated threads on which is best, it depends mainly on what you want from your car. For a drag racing special then you want to go for e.g. 3.444:1. On the other hand for relaxed cruising/good top speed then you want a 2.95:1. A compromise would be a 3.105:1 or a 3.2:1. All of the ratios I mention were fitted as std by BL at some time or another and should not be that difficult to source.

Do a search on diff ratios and you can then look at what everyone else runs.
