Hi,

I am planning on building a supercharged engine, I am in the process of sorting a few of the basic problems, such as desired/acheivable boost.
One option is to run the charger via a poly-vee belt system from an mpi mini. The charger already has a pulley attached, so I need to know the diameter of the standard mpi crank pulley to allow me to calculate the boost that would be generated?

I would like to keep the pulley already attached to the charger, as it has an electromagnetic clutch :)
My second option is to machine an attachment for the standard crank pulley, this would allow me to run any diameter (and therefore boost) that I wanted. My concern with this method is the lack of harmonic damper?

Any suggestions on either method welcome, and ideally the outer diameter of a standard mpi pulley?

Thanks,
Rich

Hello Rich,
The std Mpi crank diameter (that of the multi-V part) is just over 113mm.

I did some calculations some time ago; purely theoretical:

I am not sure what losses of intercooler plumbing would be; I think I should have included that.

Might be interesting listed what others with superchargers are running; comparing pulley diameters, boost and CR.

Hope your project will go faster then mine.... *frown*

Good luck!
