I have acquired an injection fuel tank with the fuel pump still in it, but I don't know whether it came from a SPI or MPI Mini

From various forums, it seems to be the consensus that the MPI fuel pump is capable of being use for a turbo application, but the SPI is not

Is there a simple way of knowing from the numbers printed on the pump whether it is a SPI or MPI pump

Mine says 17252 6443652

Has anybody got an SPI and/or MPI pump that they can look at for me to compare numbers?

Also is there somewhere or someone that can give a definitive specification (max psi possible) for the SPI, MPI and Metro Turbo pumps

There seems to be quite of speculation on the subject, but no clear guidance

My main question here is whether the pump I have is capable of delivering enough fuel pressure for an up to 20psi boost from the turbo

Many thanks

the MPI tank is foam filled and the SPI one isnt, give it a tap or look down the spout.

If it is an SPI tank you can get an in tank pump from somthing like a fiesta or puma for abut 15 quid,

also The SPI pump can be used up to about 12 psi ish, i forget the exact figure.

On further reading, some people are suggesting that the pumps are the same spec, and that the SPI Mini is regulated to a lower pressure by the ECU, while the MPI is regulated to a higher pressure

I have no idea whether this is correct or not, so if anybody has any other insight, I would be very grateful

I have been searching for hours on Google, and there seems to be no definitive answer to this question, and I can't find any concrete data on what psi figures these pumps can handle

@Joe C
Thanks for the information
I assume you are suggesting that the Fiesta or Puma pump is of a higher spec (capable of higher psi)
What age and model of Fiesta/Puma would these pumps have been on?
Do you know the possible psi with either of these pumps, and would they be able to pump enough when used with an up to 20psi boost from the turbo

any in tank pump will do from a multi point injection car from about 95 on, worst case you'll just need a bit of hose, couple of hose clips and some zipties.

I have seen all different presures quoted for the SPI pump, the one i'd trust being 1 bar, the MPI one runs at 3 bar.

in addition to the previous points, I think the neck of the MPI tank is also shorter.
