I've got my car for sale on auto trader and I've had a strange response from a potential buyer:

"Thanks for the swift response...i really appreciate and i will be
adding extra £100 to the asking price and i would be glad if my offer
is accepted
. Due to the nature of my job and location, i will not be able to come
for inspection. I'm a very busy type as i work long hours everyday and
have gone through your advertisement which satisfies my want.
As for the payment..i will be paying you via the fastest and secure
way to pay online(PayPal).
I will pick up agents that will come for the pick up after the payment
have been made ...so no shipping included.
You can now send me your PayPal email so i can pay in right away and
also include your address in your reply. If you don't have a paypal
account, you can easily set up one...log on to
www.paypal.com and sign
up. its very easy.
I await your reply asap"

Do you think this is legit? This is the first decent vehicle I have sold and I don't want to get screwed over
What would you reply to this?

No complete bollocks!

Some scammer after your car for nothing!

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

As John says.

PayPal is the most UN-secure way of sending money - easily reclaimed by the sender with no actual evidence whatsoever required by PayPal after the sender has your property.

Also note the "and also include your address in your reply" bit.

I wouldn't reply direct but would email/phone Autotrader instead and get them to check him/her out.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

could you try and tell him to send a cheque made payable to you. tell him to send your cheque to your work address so that he still doesnt have your address and then when the payment has gone through let him come and collect it, that way he has no way of reclaiming hs money?

The turbo build has finally started

Ah thought it was too good to be true. I'm gonna forward it to auto trader and keep my fingers crossed for a genuine buyer and not these scrotes.

Is the "www.paypal.com" link in the response obscured and actually a link to a site that looks like the paypal web site? But in fact it's a site phishing for your identity so they can thieve it and whatever is in your paypal account. :/
