Australia oi oi oi!

Hi lads.

I know we had a big post about it before,

So I have dropped my tank of to a Bloke I know and he is going to mod my tank. I don't want to run a external swirl pot.

He mentioned about welding a baffle inside the tank? Instead of a swirl pot as I want It to look neat and not run extra lines. He may make a small swirl pot just room is tight and I'll be running a external pump from webcon.

But he was not sure a swirl pot would fit? For the return line he mentioned about putting it in the bottom of the tank on the end, returning fuel back into the tank and not disturbing the fuel and creating air bubbles.

He said he will give a good look over this..

Has anyone got some photos of a tank? Cut open?

Not to sure what to tell him, hr said he can do anything I just want what will be best and tried and tested to work fine.

Nick.

Did a mod job on a new tank before fitting to my van.

There are already vertical baffles inside the tank, each with a hole in the lower corners to allow transfer of fuel. 4 baffle plates I think, two either side of centre. But certainly not rocket science.

I'd advise against a side exit fuel take off pipe as you may lose suction during heavy cornering.

Not even sure you'll need a swirl pot tbh, I didn't. Just need to make sure the flow return line enters the tank as high up in the neck as you can so that the flow back from the FPR is unimpeded. Recommend a 10 mm return.

EDIT: just realised you're injecting, so may well need that swirl pot. Cant you fit outside the tank ?

The standard internal central suction pipe/elbow has a filter on the end. This, and the 6 mm bore size of the standard pipe which is too small, means you need to either cut it out or blank it and fit a new suction pipe, preferably 8-10 mm bore. I'd keep the central location of the suction pipe as it goes down into a depression in the bottom of the tank which I'd advise you weld a drain plug into as I have on mine.

Other than that, jobsagoodun.

I have some pics of my tank finished. Will try and get em posted up later.

PS: Did your Minifins and spacers get to JK ? Any news ?

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.
