Could anyone tell me what the difference between a 24 tooth primary and input combination and 23. I know they both equal to 1:1 ratio but wondered why there are two ways of getting it.

Maybe something to do with the strength of the tooth, if the outside dia of the 2 types is the same then the 23 tooth type would have a slightly larger tooth. Edited by wez on 8th Dec, 2011. one day boost will be mine!

Its called a gear correction factor. I had a look at both of them together the other day, the the gears with more teeth are significantly thinner, to the point where I would never run a 25 tooth gear!

If youre looking at the Minispares ones they are all interchangeable to make higher or lower ratios by either having a 24 primary and 23 input or a 23 primary and 24 input, but the 23 tooth 1:1 was known as the Turbo Challenge set being stronger through having bigger teeth I seriously doubt it! |

If your going for a 1:1 ratio, as Paul says the 23 tooth gears will be alot stronger. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fusion-Fabri..._homepage_panel

It is the MiniSpares ones I'm looking at and would the 23 arrangement be louder? Also probably a noob question but could anyone explain the advantages of going for a ratio other than 1:1? My build thread: http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=454802

I'm using a 23 tooth primary and 24 tooth input on the next 998 turbo, simply because with a 3.105:1 diff it gives me a better FD ratio for my needs, 3.24:1. Saul Bellow - "A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep."
