I'm looking for some help ideas on the fuel tank.

Because the tank is long a narrow when the fuel is low there's a good chance of pulling air in. So is there away of stopping this. I was thinking of putting some baffles in the tank or is it possible to fit a swirl pot in there.

Baffles will help, but you can also make a well that the outlet pipe draws from. It only needs to be like 500ml capacity. Basically enough to keep the engine running until the fuel settles down and fills it up again.

That raised box in the centre of the bottom pic would be ideal, just make it twice as deep then run the feed from that (assuming that is the underside).

Yes that is the under side, would you put 10mm holes around the well to let fuel in so when your on the motorway and the level goes lower than the well wall these holes will keep it topped up.

I'm going to have similar problems with my van, but I will be running efi. Matty's idea sounds good to essentially cut out the sunken part and replace it with a deeper one with the fuel take off on it's side. Only thing is that the tank is quite low when fitted already - this would make it even lower.

It's either that or run a swirl pot set up similar to Will H's, not sure if you have seen this thread:

My tank is rotten so I might price up a fabricated alloy one - could put a set of baffles in as well then.

Edit: I like the cut out - I was wondering how to get the exhaust up closer to the rear valence :)

Dig-mini - as above, because the well is the lowest part of the tank it should be the last pount to be starved of fuel. Just run the fuel outlet out of the side of that well.

I know alot of people have ran there fuel return tee'd into the pump supply so you could also do this as it kind of acts as a secondary source of fuel, if you know what i mean?

I was thinking of building wall on the in side of the tank around that lower part and putting the feed into that with some small holes in the bottom edge to let the fuel in. A bit like that surge tank. going to clean the tank so that I can weld on it so it could be after the weekend before I can touch it.
