Finished my alternator brackets apart from painting them. The alternators original position was at the back of the engine and shared a belt with the water pump but had to be moved to allow the engine to be mounted as far back as possible. Luckly the crankshaft pulley can take a second belt which would have been used for the air con pump. For the main bracket i used the 3 tapped holes in the head that were originally for the power steering pump. Then for the tensioner I used the 2 bolts on the engine mount. Next job is to get a smaller belt for the water pump and make a tensioning wheel for it.

Yeah the engine is now back out. This is so i could attach all the brake lines to the subframe. Had to weld some tabs onto the towers for the hoses from the calipers to attach. Also now given the subframe another lick of paint. I'll get some pictures up tomorrow and the brakes should be bled up by then.

Also started making a tensioner pulley for the water pump belt. Machined it from a bit of scrap steel at work and found a sealed bearing to press in. Then hopefully i'll have that all finished by sometime next week

I do have a few bits left but most of its sold. Ive still got the intercooler i was using, fuel pump, regulator and a few engine bits.

If theres anything you're after i'll have a look and see what ive got.

Now finished all the machining work for my pulley tensioner. It's really simple just a sealed bearing pressed into a sleeve with a shaft that clamps the inner race. Just got to make a bracket to mount it now. Also got a picture of the brake lines finished.

I haven't updated this for a while so it deserves a big update.

Before I refitted the engine I poly bushed all the engine mounts to minimise engine movement because everything is so close. Then once the engine was back in I bought a decat downpipe and welded up an exhaust, which links up to my old play mini back box. I had to cut a recess in the subframe crossmembet to clear the downpipe though. I then decided to use the mpi rad as its the only one that will fit in the front. So plumbed that in with a nice shiny alloy header tank. Also had to get a remote oil filter kit because the oil filter wouldn't fit behind the front. Then it was a case of wiring everything up. I kept a lot of the mini loom so the lighting circuit, horn, washers etc stayed the same. I then spliced the starlet loom into the mini ignition barrel, wired in the fuel pump and that's about it really. I have also chopped and welded my driveshafts at work. Got the finished shafts down to 5 thou throw (standard starlet one had 7). Then it was just a case of putting the standard intercooler on to fire it up :)

Here is a video of it running. It needs a new starter motor as the solenoids gone but I managed enough to start it. Really pleased with it, coolant temps are fine but it is cold atm so that might change in the summer. Also gave it a quick go up the road and it boosts up fine. Just need to tidy the wiring and dash and then get a different intercooler to fit as the standard one won't fit under the front.

Thanks mate. Standard they are around 135 but hoping to make 150 once I get a mapable ecu on there

It sticks out about 1 1/2 to 2 inches i guess. The intercooler is german made universal one that i bought off ebay, i'm impressed with the quality as well

Yeah i know what you mean Mike. That number plate is only temporary there. Im either get a small square one or like you say a stick on one for the bonnet
