I have 3 MG Metro Turbo m passi regulators all of which seem to be adjusted differently, ie one screwed quite far out, one mid way, and one quite far in.

As far as I know they haven't been tampered with as they have come directly of un moded metros. nor have any signs of the brass nut and screw being touched, with the wrong size screw driver etc.

My first question is :

- Is it possible they are just setup diferently from the factory to suit the particular turbo, fuel pump, dizzy timing etc.
(This could be depending if they came of a pre of post 85 car or simple variation due to manufacturing tolerance)

- And secondly, how due to set them up or do you leave well alone as I hve done up till now and take it back to rover for set up ?

I know in terms of running higher boost the system sorts its self out as the boost increases the fuel pressure increases accordingly and are usable up to group A spec.

What are your thoughts on this turbodave ?

Many thanks for anyones input on this

Cheers Brocky

Also I intend to use a 2wd cossy intercooler with 60mm ports and run 60mm pipe to the turbo and then use 60 to 50 mm reducing elbows to the plenum and transfer pipe. Does this sound ok as I don't want to go to big ? (Space not and issue as I have a clubby fg front end

BTW - I took my buddy VTEC Pete out for a spin this weekend, and even though I am running her in, he gave it a name, the "Brocket"...cause I'm a brocket maaannn, nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah....

The nut and screw at the top of the reg sets the static fuel pressure output up when there is no boost into the regulator. Most people set this to 4psi, this is easily done by teeing-in a pressure gauge to the line from your regulator to your carb. With the fuel pump running but the engine off, set the pressure to 4psi by adjusting the screw. Then tighten the locknut. With the engine running and boosting the fuel pressure will then stay 4psi above whatever the boost pressure is. You cannot test this in the garage but if you can position the fuel pressure gauge somewhere you can see it (under a windscreen wiper for example) then drive up the road and watch the fuel pressure gauge as the car comes on boost, you should see it rise.

As for why they are set differently, who knows, set them up using the method above and then you have three that you KNOW are set up correctly!

DB - I fitted a 2wd cossie cooler into a clubby engine bay a few years back. Fits like a dream behind the grille. You need to also cut off and weld over the dump-valve tube. Aside from that - a great intercooler!
