My advice to anyone thinking of doing this manually and on ur own ..... Dont because lifting an engine onto a wheeled seat the onto the worktop isnt the best of ideas lol especially when not moving the cylinder head incase of crushing your hand. Note to self get an engine lift nxt time.

I can't imagine doing it without an engine crane, and I have a removable front. You're mad. |

Never used a crane yet. Bit of knack and a spare kid or two helps. Saul Bellow - "A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep."

Me and John lifted the engine out of the van by hand once. Was easy enough with it up on a jack and the head off. On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:
i tried putting soap on it , and heating it to brown , then slathered my new lube on it

is that a 998 engine; they are tons lighter than a 1275 engine. still not advisable to do it on your own mind i've only ever done it once without a crane and 2 friends and it was hell.

Ummm they're pretty much the same weight afaik. If anything, a 998 will be heavier as there is more cast iron in the block cos the holes are smaller... Metric is for people who can't do fractions. |
