Just reading this months mini mag artical on wedging,

I have a 6281 crank which is the hard wearing one, and am thinking I would like to get it wedged and wondered if you need to have the areas that you remove the material from re -harden?

As the artical says the hard wearing bit is for the bearings, not the webs, but just wondered what peoples thoughts were on this? Would the variation in the case hardness across the crank web be of any consequence ?

I guess you have to get the whole thing treated anyway, as you have to put it in the furnace and emerse in methane or similar,

TD I know you know alot about this from you transmission design and manufacture days?

Cheers
