Hi
Does anyone use the exhaust heat wraps and/ or the Turbo wraps to contain the heat?

Just thinking out loud ... I know they are supposed to lower the under bonnet temps ...but... wouldnt it cause the turbo itself to overheat!!!!!

Thoughts please gents :)

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

I am planning to wrap my manifold, if only to stop as much radiant heat making hoses pipes etc go crispy.
Will see how effective it is in time.

I use it. The theory is to keep the heat inside the manifold to help keep the turbo spinning and also to reduce underbonnet temps especially when drag racing. I have also wrapped the downpipe down towards the diff.

No real back to back evidence on power gains but i am positive it will not make your turbo over heat.

I like the truck Mk2 Phil......at least you recovered it from when Dave nicked it.....!!!!

Slightly more on topic, anyone know a reasonably priced source of stainless lockwire for attaching heat wrap to manifolds?

Tom, i always just tie it with some ordinary plain wire, twisted at the end with pliers. This seems to secure the wrap fine and costs f##k all.
You can just see it in the picture.
