Thame, Oxfordshire.

Hi, I have two camshafts that are surplus to requirements that I would like to sell, however I'm not sure if they are useable. Looking for any knowledgeable people to give there opinions.

First is an AEG 643, the bearing surfaces seem to be in good condition, there is only one tiny spot of surface rust that i don't think will affect it and will polish out, on the bearing surface nearest the oil pump end. there is some very minor pitting on 3 of the lobes (worst one shown) it is a spider drive cam and has thicker and taller lobes that the 731 i also have, however the shaft itself is a little thinner. it has no fuel pump drive. has AEG 643 stamped on it. I was told that these are a race/rally cam for the 970 S and also do very well in the 1275's. I believe this must be an orgional 60's factory made cam.

I also have a KC 731 (I assume that it is a Kent cam hence the KC) this one has some small pitting on all the bearing surfaces and what look like very mild score marks? on them. I am assuming that this will scrap it?? The lobes are all look perfect however. they are lower and thinner than the ones on the 643 i assume that this is a re-profiled standard cam. the shalf is a little thicker than the 643. it is a slot drive with fuel pump drive. there are also two minor chips out of the dizzy drive.

King Gaycharger, butt plug dealer, Sheldon Cooper and a BAC but generally a niceish fella if you dont mind a northerner

Rotherham, South Yorkshire

They both look well worn to me. The lobe look fairly worn and starting to flatten off.

The slot drive cam has pitting and rust on the bearing surface, would it still be suitable for de loabing? I dont know how clean the cam bearing surfaces have to be.

and could the cam with the good bearing surfaces be re profiled to sort out the lob wear issue?
