Hi there,
Hope someone can help please ?

I have a 1993 K reg Mini, I had a 1275 engine fitted when I got it and now I have a 998 enging fitted.

The 1275 has a is pre-engaged starter motor and the wiring loom is for that, the 998 uses an inertia starter motor with those small external-type solenoids on the inner wing. I have sorted this all out with the help from this post;

I'm still having problems with this set up and I'm not good with wiring. I've got the coil and the dizzy wired up but I dont have a clue whats going on.

I'm not getting any spark from the coil.

Can you please help me ?

Thanks

What voltage are you getting at the + and - on the coil with the ignition on?

Wiring the ignition should be easy. Basically there should be +12 on the +ve of the coil. The -ve of the coil goes to the points in the distributer. The points ground the coil. When the points open the coil generates the spark to the plugs.

A bit like this:

You should be able to connect it like this outside of the wiring loom, assuming that the +12v is present at the coil during cranking you should then generate a spark.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

I just googled it, nothing to do with me, but I though it was quite useful.
