Has anyone had the pleasure of rebuilding a GT1752.

Curruntly have one with slight play but all blades are in tack, was going to attempt to rebuild it or would you just send it off if the latter where too (Local)

Have found a rebuild trend on a fiat forum and seem simple enough but thens there the balancing.

It's really easy. Just remember that the thread that holds the compressor wheel on is left handed.

Definitely have it balanced.

I used a GT1752S rebuild kit. It seems to be much better than the standard one.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

I rebuilt my t3. Wasnt too bad a job at all. I marked the rotating assembly and put it back together as it came apart. Done a few thousand miles on it now, its performed perfectly. Double check the thread though. All over the net it stated that the thread on my t3 was left handed, ot wasnt though. So there could be some variation. Mark it all up, keep it all clean and take your time. It was a satisfying job. Cheers, dan

Whilst it is sound advice to have the rotating assembly balanced after a rebuild, I have rebuilt two GT1752,s and did not have them balanced - no probs so far.

I know Robert has done the same.

I guess you take a chance and you could be unlucky and have it destroy itself very quickly (Which is why I have spare ones !!)

Just make sure it all goes back in the same orientation, and you should be fine. I would imagine most turbo rebuild companies wouldn't just balance a turbo someone else has rebuilt, because if it all goes wrong they wouldn't want anyone going back to them passing blame. They may do, just my opinion of what i'd expect them to say.

Marked the comp wheel / nut and shaft.

Managed to undo the nut *happy* usual left hand thread.

Just awaiting rebuild kit now, thanks for the advice and picture link Rob.

Ye will do robert, there is only very slight movement in the turbo.
didnt want to strip it down last night as the garage is a dump at the moment and required a clean and tidy ready for the build.

Australia, brisbane

did my old t3 with out hastle just needed some tiny c clip plyers
i built it all up and had my core unit balanced but turbo Australia for a like 60 bucks i feel its cheep insurance to be sure its not going to chew up the new bushes and seals but like said if you mark it well and get it back the way it was (providing it was right to start with ) you will have no probs..
