Hey guys,

I'm at the point where I need a map for the megajolt. I did a few search's as I remember a guy on here used to have a site with a load listed. It seems like that sites not running anymore.

I am after a map to suit my NA, 1340, stage 4 head, weber 45, 286 cam.

If anyone could help that would be great.

The autosports lab instructions say that you can run the car in limp mode through the edis unit, without the megajolt plugged in but I'm having no luck. I don't get a spark. Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Cheers guys.

Ben

Hi Ben,

Try and reverse the connections on the VR sensor, that may solve your no spark issue.

As for map i still have mine from the mini which was similar spec to yours.

There's a lot of 32's in there and still required some fine tuning but produced 106 bhp

Cheers guys.

I'll have a look this morning, re-check my wires. I havent run them properly yet, it was just a test to see if the coil pack works etc.

"Since the EDIS module can operate the engine by itself in a "limp-home" mode, with the advance fixed at 10 degrees BTDC, it's recommended you install the EDIS module and coil packs first, and then verify your engine runs before wiring in the MJLJ."

Like it says I've left the MJ out for the minute, but no spark. Sensor plug is no more than 1 mm. I've tried sensor wires both ways round as I couldn't see a 1 or a + on the sensor.

Battery was a bit low so I'm wondering if there wasn't quite enough power for a spark.

Well sort the battery first. When I did my mj conversion I could not get a spark. Turned out there was swarf on the crank sensor.check this as it will not spark unless its clear of swarf

What was the issue Ben.

Is it a USB to serial converter or PCI?

Polarity of the sensor/ crap on the sensor, swapped the wires again and clean the swarf off and it works!

I have the standard megajolt cable (serial to the phone line type, not sure what its called). My laptop doesn't have the serial so I bought this from trigger wheels.

Might drive up to minispeed real quick to get a new mechanical fuel pump. Although part of me is thinking go electrical and get a fuel pressure regulator on there too?!

mechanical pump is only good for about 80-90 hp according to vizard, dunno how true that is, but I'd go with the lecky one, give the option of draining the tank should ypu need to, plus you dont have to wind the engine over to prime the carb etc.

I think I'll go electric yeah. At least it kind of rules out any fuel supply issues when I start playing with the weber.

Is there a particular type of pump I should go for? I'm guessing I just wire it to the last ignition position before the starting position.

Might see if I can get a pump from a motor factors around here so I don't have to wait for one.

I had a facet comp pump on the mini running a 45 weber. Set the pressure at 4psi with no issues.

Ah cool. Cheers Lee.

Minispeed stock those too and they are 50 minutes from me so I'll take a trip up there tomorrow when they're open.

you'll need to get an inline pressure gauge to set the fuel regulator.

got mini off fleebay.

Hey guys,

Got an electric fuel pump and regulator fitted.

Does anyone know what my ignition advance should be set at on the mega jolt? Its at 12 as standard but it seems like its too advance. When cranking I'm getting puffs of smoke from the carb and as if the engines stalling instead of starting.

I'm no engine expert so I'm a bit stuck to be honest...

Any ideas?

Disconnect the MJ from the Edis 4, this will give you a preset 10 BTDC IF there is no error in the VR sensor position.

Have you checked the leads are correct or feeds to the coil pack?

Do this with MJ disconnected, should have a reading of 10 BTDC.
If any different the offset will require setting in MJ.

My laptop should read 10 with the MJ disconnected Lee? As in disconnect the saw and pip wore from the edis?

Havent checked the timing with a gun no but it wont start so its made it hard.

I'l re check my leads tonight. Struggled to find any info on my coil pack as its different to the one i my MJ guide.

Remove the plugs and check it with a gun.

You may find you might have the two coil feeds crossed, easiest way to fix it is swop plug 1 and 4 with 2 and 3.
