if you use a new pin and a stepped punch they are pretty easy.....any other time you want it off/on and dont have the right tools they are a PITA. v good idea and bearing in mind its not really any different to a lynch pin in principle id have one...

The thing about the roll pin is that you have to bash it out with a hammer and punch, which is fine until you are in the garage with the car on stands and no room to swing the hammer. That one bit often takes me as long as the rest of the removal steps... On 11th Feb, 2015 robert said:

A machine screw and two nuts is about the best thing I've used when I haven't had a roll pin to hand (sometimes i accidentally knock them out, never to be found again) On 26th Jan, 2012 Tom Fenton said:

I can't say I've ever had a problem knocking them out with a pin punch while the car's on axle stands.

Great idea, but if the roll pin is well greased when fitted they come out easy.
What the mind can conceive the mini can achieve

This is a cool idea. I personally modify my roll pins by grinding a flat along the groove,, which makes them sooo much easier to remove. On 17th Nov, 2014 Tom Fenton said:

I have not used a roll pin in about 4 years, as I have taped it out to m6 and use a dome cap head then lock wire it, works for me fine. I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Why don't they just offer the clips alone? As Simon from Minispares says the coupling is £20. Well 99% of us have many of them.

Probably because the fit will need to be very good to avoid a sloppy gear change, new clip on a worn sleeve may well be pants,
