Haven't had time to go in the garage tonight to measure the mini. Does anyone know what size tap is needed to tap a thread in the heater take off hole on a cylinder head? I'm wanting to fit a threaded hose connector but need to order the right size tap ASAP

The previous owner snapped one of the studs then used a cheap stud extractor and snapped that inside the stud so the easiest and quickest fix is to thread the actual take off hole |

I haven't measured it yet, as haven't had time to go in garage tonight, was just seeing if someone knew off hand so I could order the things I need tonight |

Prety sure 9/16 will do it... but depends how big you drill the hole...

Or put it right and cut the stud extractor out with Dremel and a carbide burr. Edited by PhilR on 22nd Jul, 2014. |

Usually I'd sort things properly but this engine is only a put me on until I build a turbo motor. The hole is 1/2" so what size tap will be needed? |

Depends on what fitting you get hold of... 3/8 BSPT if you want a taper fitting, but you'll need to drill it out to (or close to) 14.75mm |

Iv ordered a m14x1.5 tap and a m14x1.5 hose tail in brass with a 10mm outlet |
