Have a question for any Turbo Ignition Guru's out there.

Made a visit to the rolling road on friday for my first setup and power run only to find that the dizzy was showing 3.5 degrees of advance with the vacuum disconected, and 16 degrees with it connected !!

Is my dizzy knackered ?
Is it the plastic box on the side gone ?
Have I got adifferent dizzy ?

Can I rectify this without buying another dizzy?

Should I ditch the dizzy altogether and get one of these other dizzyless systems ?

"3.5 degrees of advance with the vacuum disconected, and 16 degrees with it connected !!" .. if this was at idle, then thats normal, asuming you rcar is set with a static timing of 3.5 degrees at idle(vac disconnected)

Hi there Benross, I did read this thread b4 posting mine, it doesn't actually talk about base timings that i have making me think that it is my dizzy that is knackered....R there any other different Dizzy's out there that can be used on a metro turbo engine ?

Well if that's all the ignition, why didn't he advance it?

At the least, he should have got you an 'ideal' advance figure every 1000 rpm so you could go away and have a more suitable dizzy made.

It could also be that your TDC reference is a mile off (quite common according to Vmax - I've never seen it vary by the amount you'd be saying though)! This is easy to check out yourself, so is the first port of call...

stowmaket suffolk

sounds like another dodgy rolling road geezer to me,

a bit like a girl in are club. after she fitted a stage one kit to her car she had it rolling roaded at a local place and she complained the car felt gutless when i check it was running lean as arseholes so richen it up a whole two turns and went a heck of lot better or be still not ideal. so watch out only go to a respected operater.

sorry for hyjacking this thread.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas
