Just wanting to post something that made my life a little better towards the end of last year...after the floods and all...

Seriously, no way, guess who rocked up right here in Houston Texas, with a 1981 MG Metro 1300!? All the way from California. I hadn't seen my good friend TurboDave16v in person since 2002, and yet on the day / pit stop, we quite happily shook hands, exchanged insults, brewed some Tea and then went about our merry way fixing up the old car he had turned up in, some thing my garage was built for.... getting the car ready to head to Houston MSR race way...and then off to TD's home town, great times with old friends...what more could you ask for? and not to a mention full in board drive shaft boot was replaced...why metro sub-frames don't let you pull out the inboard cv through the frame, god will never know..

Appreciated, you taking me and the family out for dinner and drinks the night before btw chief. Looking forward to the next time we meet, let us not let it be 15 years next time, cheers Brocky

BTW - I took my buddy VTEC Pete out for a spin this weekend, and even though I am running her in, he gave it a name, the "Brocket"...cause I'm a brocket maaannn, nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah....

I was not expecting to see this on TM this morning!

Here is the metro looking sorry for itself in Brocky's garage. Note that his mini was relegated to "workbench" status for his "owwdee" so no chance of having a play in it!

A Metro in the states must sure be a rare sight !

Yeah, I’ve really no idea how this metro ended up here, but it was used by a chap in Washington to tow his (I think) isetta to shows...
It was hit by a drunk driver, written off by insurance, purchased by user ‘spank’ on here who beat out the damage, caged it up, and raced it in the 24hrs of lemons race series, and I bought it from him.

I’m going to fix it up, turbo it (obviously) then who knows what.

I consider it my ‘duty’ having been responsible for scrapping many, many metros over the years; now I have a chance to save one!

The owner from Washington used to frequent the metro owners club forum many years ago. There are few photos available of the car in the states by searching Google, but here is a good set with some background info. Interestingly NYM 85Y was its original UK reg number.
