Has anyone run rose jointed bottom arms on a road car? The car will not be a daily drive so will still be a toy but need to consider people experience. I have both poly bushes and rose joints.

Thanks in advance.

Somewhere around Swindon

My car has them when it went into storage i stuck it on axle stands and checked the rose joints, they had no wear that i could find after 1800 miles.

I think the key to keeping rose joints in good condition is the rubber boots although i never fitted them to mine.

Im interested in these too. They are not recommended for road use? Why is that? If thay are harsh i woudnt notice on top of straight cut drops etc. If they wear out and are dangerous that is different.? I would cover them with rubber boots

They’re perfect imo, especially with rubber bushes turning into liquorice within 6 months. NVH? Can’t really say I notice running a 45DCOE and straight cut gears *wink*

The added precision in steering is very noticeable.

I’ve always run them. Fit the rubber boots and pack them with grease to prolong their life dramatically.

I've had them on ours for the last 5 (nearly 6) years, not had any problems with them and they aren't showing any wear.

I've been thinking of changing back to poly but can't justify it yet.

How is the ride, the car will hopefully be a toy anyway but I might do the odd long run. That’s if I ever get it built.

Ive had a set on the car for 15 years with no issues (not masses of miles though)
Agree with using the rubber boots.

Mine are the Minispares ones.
My only criticism is mine aren’t on car adjustable which makes them a total pain in the arse come adjustment time, but it looks like Minispares now only sell on car adjustable?

I also have minispares joints. Pack loads of grease in the boots and you will be good for many miles 👍

I wouldn't even worry about the wear that much. New joints really aren't a lot of money in the sizes needed.

We had coil-overs, after a few miles I sold them and went back to cones. Bloody horrible for driving on the road.

As for an SC gear set - why do you think you need it? What problem are you trying to solve?

I don’t have a rear subframe so would need to convert back for cones.

Straight cut drop gears don't tend to eat the transfer case as much, the rest of the box just because, also cross pin diff

My rose are mini spares adjustable on car.

Just dragging this discussion back up.

Does anyone use Rose jointed Tie bars on their road cars or would this be strictly track toys?

I know I read about not using polly bushes
on one side of the tie bar mount on the subframe, so just wondering if Rose joints on the tie bar would be a no-no as well with road cars.

I'm just putting together an order (wish list really) for the subframe builds, so thought it would be worth asking.

I do, I would advise gusseting the bracket they attach too, due tot he lack of rubber, but im sure youve considered that.

I went for the KAD tie bars, as they have a proper metal end at the subframe rather than the pressed arangement ive seen that can bend on others.

doh, just looked and KAD have changed the design of their tie bars.... the ones I have are their older ones that look a bit like the minispot ones.

Thanks Joe.
I had not thought about adding gussets, but then I had not really thought much about using rose jointed tie bars until now.

The Minisport version are the ones I was thinking of buying.

Plus one for the gussets, I did my subframe as a matter of course.
I'm actually using the poly/rubber combination but I'd have done it anyway even if I was using plain rubber - many decades ago (my first car) the left side failed at the welds and the only thing that prevented the suspension collapsing backwards was the small bolt that connects the subframe to the front panel (early type, no rubber mounts) because the tie bar mounting plate includes the hole where that bolt goes.

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???
