I'm not sure if it is the same for mk1 shell - as in whether there are any differences in this area compared to a '78 shell - but there is more room than you'd think to get the pipes in under the rear subframe.

I've ran two 3/8" AN Hardline lines between the heel board and subframe without clearance issues.

No problem here either, 8mm flow, 10mm return, copper (microbore central heating pipe).
