Third time trying to get a response, topic doesn't stay on. I have a 1961 Austin with a punched 1275 w/turbo. Cabin has strong gas fumes, gas tank has no vent, however cap is vented. I even tried running with the cap off-no better. As the fuel is returned to the tank, it creates fumes inside the car.....any cures? Do I need to get a tank with a vent? Dan

You clearly need to do some more research. And to stop posting in the wrongf section.

I'm not sure what you're doing, but if you click the icon at the top that says 'Home' then you're looking at all the sections you could post in.

'Show us yours' says "Post pictures in here.." next to it. You have asked your question every time in this section. in case you haven't realised, this is where you show pictures of your mini.

You would be best posting in the
' Help Needed - Ask your mini related questions here'
section...

All Mods - we'll leave this in this section just this once please... *wink*

I'll look for the vent again. However, i think it's being used as a return. I can hear gas running back into the tank when key is on and electric fuel pump is running. Dan

The vent is slap-bang in the middle of the tank at the top. It's not easy to use it as a return becuase you need a 8mm minimum return... The vent is less than half that diameter.

My thoughts are that if the vent is blocked, running the tank with the cap off did not improve matters, you need to look somewhere else for the source of the smell/leak.

However, if the vent is open into the boot, you will continue to get this smell until you route a pipe from it out under the car.

how about please? i've asked questions before and got no reply the same as everyone else, advice is free and mostly to a brilliant standard better than you can find anywhere else, everyone is also friendly and will go way out of their way to help when they could be in the pub, just pays to be a bit more courteous, gav

Yeah - a picture or two. Maybe of the wife, or the dog taking a nap in front of the fire, or of a nice landscape?
Your choice.
