I got to go on a cmm and cad course nextweek at dea(uk),It also mentions reverse engineering.
Is this just working out how somthing was made,and the order done by studying the finished component *tired*

Hi,
Sounds about right to me. When they reverse engineer test equipment for engine management they plug a PC into the car collect the data that comes out and reverse engineer it into a program that reads the fault codes! HTH's

It depends i always think of reverse engineering as the "red light on a stick". Where they use a "laser" (or something red) to scan and plot an object into CAD.

One of my boss' mates owns such a machine and has been commissioned by mclaren to do one of their gearboxes for the f1 road car cos some muppet threw the patterns away!!! D'oh

I've got a better 'dit' than that...

Heard a story from a guy who was training us in the latest version of CAD about a colleague of his who was asked by playtex (bra's) to assist them in their latest investigations into the size - and shape of womens breastittie regions. Poor bugger spent two weeks with a 3d scanner waving it in front of countless pairs of funbags, both 'supported' and 'unsupported'.

I can't verfiy if the story is folklore or gospel, but the guy telling us spoke with great authority...

One little disclaimer i forgot to mention; they weren't all stunning supermodels...

They did all sizes. And shapes. Including the faciallly and diametrally challenged ones....
