Hi,
I'll agree with variable vane being the way to go! As long as it doesn't get stuck like the VW ones do!
Cheers,
Gavin. :)

It's the way forward.

In theory.

Not for extremes of EGT however....

Hi
I was wondering what was the best way forward with turbo's!
But this to me as new boy to turbo's sounds great, how do you know what turbo set up is correct: eg drag racing?

Hey Gavin,

So long as you remember you're entering new territory with a turbo - and don't try to build the best engine first time out; you'll set yourself up much better.
Reality is; no one here has really developed their engines like they could be on a countless budget. Claims of 200hp are (well not on this site at least) many - but few ever achieve.
However... Certian things are dead-certs. If you build a low CR engine, with a stock 1275 camshaft, and keep feeding it boost - efficient boost that is - then the engine will continue to increase in horsepower.
There is tons more to it than that - but if the turbo can continue to supply air, and the turbine isn't restrictive, and nothing in the engine is holding it back, - it'll make the goods.

I suggest some more reading for yourself... There are many reccomended books on forced induction; expand your knowledge in all areas and you'll focus more when it comes to concentrating on just the A-series alone.

These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.
