Ahh I see, have you managed to get the circlip all the way out or just loosen it?

Might just need some good penetrating spray and some brute force

Hi,
Once you've got the circlip out, you may need to warm up the housing and knock it loose with a hide or copper hammer. I know it sounds a bit brutal, but I was told to do this by a turbo repair company. Worked OK 8) Bit scary though! *surprised*
Cheers,
Gavin. :)

I had a T2 with the Circlip once - I heated it, and heated it, and heated it, and knocked the living crap out of it with a copper mallet, but it didn't budge. Not once. :(
Just making sure you're aware...

ps - that wouldn'y be a 0.63 turbine (exhaust) housing would it? These are a little too large for a 1300 - even a 1380 will struggle to spool one of these up properly; just makig sure you're aware...

its been soaking in penetrative spray for 2 days now and wont budge*frown* i think this will have to go to the garrett turbo place as i dont think its gonna budge, although i havent tried heating it yet.

it is a .47 exhaust housing

Cool - that'll be sweet then!

Turbo places usually have MASSIVE (like 5 times the size of a scrapyard cutting torch) Torches for quickly heating the housing.

I think this is the key - putting loads of heat into it rapidly so it can't pass all this heat into the centre-housing, hence it WILL expand more and WILL come apart...

The T2 uses 7/16" x 18tpi and 1/2" x 21tpi or something like that (i've got the exact pitch written down somewhere,

I Can't remeber what the pitch is exactly - I have it at work (3rd of Jan I'm back) so can check then.

Here is a (bad) pic of mine from a few years back...

It's a special thread pitch...
Make a drawing and take to a machine shop...

I've got two banjo bolts made exactly the same but for the Two different threads found on the T2 units - so whichever one i swap to, i've got the right union.

When making the drawing, be very critical on the dimensions as you don't want the thread to bottom-out. I also added a countersink to the end of my unions to give clearance around the 'inverted flare' that the stock oil feed bolted to - you may or may not have this...

Edit - note that you do appear to have this so will need the countersink (or have less thread length):

Are you mounting it on the metro manifold? if so - you're going to have probs. There is literally 2mm between the top of my union and the 13mm AF nut holding the turbo to the manifold.
A complete banjo bolt is the only answer in this case- which of course probably means your hose won't do as the 7/16 is larger OD than the hole in your banjo on your oil pipe... :(
