I can't stop my car overunning after turnoff; a common problem I know. (non turbo 998 with 10.5:1CR)

I used to get this on a 10.8:1 1100cc engine I built a while back, nothing I seemed to do to the ignition timing etc would seem to cure it.

its to do with setup in the ignition/idlespeed/mixture department. Can be exaggerated by excessive combustion chamber build up, but in my experiance is a right pita to sort properly. Try dropping the idle speed if you can, obviously to an extent which doesnt start damaging the engine or stalling. This is the bigest contributor as far as i can tell from my own efforts. I've seen the future and tbh its Pie

i had a 12G940 headed 998 a while back (ran around high 11's CR) it over ran on every shut off too. i jsut got used to stopping the car with it in gear and one foot on the brake and one on the clutch "stalling" the run-on. :S turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

check your points for the right gap that can nock timing out you can run a run on valve from metro or fiesta the ones with x/flow engines when you fit it check for air leak at the flap end of the valve when engine is running because old valve can leak 1293 Turbo mini

Well I run NGK BPR6ES plugs and always add VSP (measured out) to 95RON fuel to give 97RON.

the only trouble with the anti run on valves is they have a tendancy to get leak pass, so misture will lean out whilst running, but a good cure as long as you get a good one. always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas |

Well on the TT we use nothing but optimax and CVL which gives us about 102ron. But for a NA 998 and the daily drive optimax is not worth it. http://www.twin-turbo.co.uk

As Ben says, It's the daily hack I can't stop overunning, and that dosen't get posh fuel.
