Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has taken temp reading before and after their intercoolers, Has anyone? if so what are they if you don't mind sharing?

I was seeing 120+ after turbine and 45 absolute max (generally more like 35/40) after the intercooler.
T2 turbo, 16psi, RSTS2 intercooler.

bugger, my temp gauges will only go up to about 75 degrees...looks like its just one after the cooler then.

Although it is nice to see what is coming out of the turbo (so you can assess how efficient your cooler is) it is the actual charge temps that are of more importance.

I seem to remember having 90ish on the inlet to the intercooler and 35ish on the exit. That was a 5 GTT cooler and around 15psi boost.

Well, The sensors from the Rover MPi's are cheap - and linear to 100 degrees.
All you need to do is set up a pot on the stove, with a thermometer, and measure the resistance at different temps - then plot the results and you'll have a (hopefully linear) curve that you can just take the resistance reading and simply convert into a temperature reading...

huh, so far these figures give a lot more intercooler efficiency than I was expecting!

The Rover sensors are easily "collected" from the scrappy, that's what i use.

yes the intercooler is the one item that is underated in most peoples eyes

as one famouse turbo guru once stated

"an intercooler is not the icing on the cake"
"its MORE cake"

heres a link of a company in the uk who supply the mentioned gauges SPA.

http://www.spa-uk.co.uk/design/dualgauges.asp

these are dual gauges temp and pressure.
altough a shade expensive!
you get what you pay for

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

i just bought one

http://www.watercoolingshop.com/catalog/pr...products_id=191

however it isnt quite the same as thwe ones on ebay i think as it doesnt have the 1.5m cable, more like 50cm, and you need to cut off the old connector

easily resolved though
