I want to use rivnuts to fix my arches on. It means I can use a nice chrome allen bolt to screw the arches on. I've found these on car-builders solutions (the budget one).

i hate rivnuts, the first time yuou overtighten the bolt the nut will spin making bolt removal very difficult espacially if its in a confined space ..i know yuor unlikley to over tighten arch bolts but its all relevent, a better option if a little bigger is the ones that have two rivet holes either side, that way you have to sheer the rivets which are more resillient..

I'm also considering buying one of these, I can't decide whether the budget kit is OK or whether to save up a bit more and buy the professional tool. TBH I think I am leaning towards buying the better one though.

I've an eclipse Rivnut set - and it's a great piece of kit. I bought it initially for one job - holding the grille on! My self-tapper holes were gettign bigger and bigger, so I used M4 nutserts and stainless pan-heads.

We have one of those kits at work, They are good but only really good in thin metal also those tools are hard to pull up really tight! We also have a bigger more proffesional kit this is bigger and pulls up loads better!

I have had soo many rivnuts spin at work its unreal!! We use a floating nut now which fixes in with two rivets and allows for slight misalignment and it doesn't spin if you overtighten it! Can't remember the proper name for them though |

Hold the 8mm nut still with your spanner, tighten the bolt head, with your ratchet, to compress the Rivnut. Hold spanner still unscrew bolt... Hey presto, Rivnuts for cheap skates!
