i have a clubman and i am trying to pipe up a R5 intercooler, i have sourced a different inlet for the plenum chamber from a meastro turbo in the brakers, but i am having a problem trying to get an samoc elbow on the pipe that comes out of the top of the turbo as it is very tight against the inlet manifold stopping an elbow from being push on fully, which in turn makes it tight underneath the inlet to the plenum.

Just wondered if anyone had come across this problem and had any ideas in getting round it?

Also the pipe coming out of the top of the turbo is far smaller than the rest of the pipe work, will this cause any lag? if so can this part be modded or is it a set exit size in the turbo itself?

Hi,
A picture speaks a thousand words. Can you post one up then we can see what your talking about. The pipe out of the top of the turbo, are you talking inside diameter or outside?
Cheers,
Gavin. :)

You could either make one up or as i have done, unbolt, turn it 180degrees (gives better clearance)and weld a larger outlet pipe on to go with the rest of the intercooler hosing.

As regards to the R5 intercooler, if you havent done allready then its worth ditching the in built thermostate and strapping it.
