How many people use this?
What is the most common jet used?
Has anyone had oil pressure problems with this?
Paul

I seriously doubt it!

Nice one Dangerous,
I missed that on a search.
Does this purely cool the piston material to help prevent melting or does it cool the charge too?
Paul

I seriously doubt it!

I was going to get it done and asked simon at Morspeed about it as he is getting my engine next week but he told me it wasnt worth it as the biggest names like Jon Flannign and Tim hanaby running 25psi dont bother with them.

So now im unsure what to do.

if i was building a turbo motor, i'd fit them, at the end of the day its some cheap insurance for some expensive parts. Think bang for your buck, it MUST lower piston temps, even if its only by 10 degrees the small price of the jet has gota be worth it. how much would you pay for some fancy ceramic coating that did the same thing?

Take a look at EVERY decent performance turbocharged engine (not including nat-asps with a turbo thrown on like the Rover and Vauxhall units) and you'll find oil squirters.
Do you think OEM's fit these just to charge more for an engine? I'll believe OEM's over an engine builder any day of the week.

Unfortunatelly, you need to understand that you can't answer a question like that - because piston crown oil cooling ISN'T something like having a M6 bolt where a M12 should be where a pass/fail situation is EASY to determine; It's about reliability - one of the hardest things ever to correlate or validate.
If you don't want them; fine - leave them out. Folks will continue to run with them. Folks will continue to run without them.

One thing I do find interesting, is everyone (who i can think of) who has the under-crown cooling, or is intending to do it, is a qualified engineer... Aside from Jimster - who'd just a gaylord. Make of that what you will - but there must be a reason that engineers (and i don't mean someone who fixes washing machines or does MOT's) see the need...

The Gp "A" Metty's had them fitted, so they must have thought they were worth fitting. Every little helps when it comes to reliability.

Hi,
Has anyone modified the jets as per Phil's site (to keep oil pressure higher crimp the ends slightly) or left them as standard? If you left them standard, have you any oil pressure problems / which pump are you running?
Cheers,
Gavin. :)
