A standard metro turbo engine set up with ECU, is set to give 4psi boost upto 4000 rpm and then 7psi after that?
So when i bought my metro turbo from minipower the bloke there said that it had a 9psi needle fitted. So how do i get the turbo to give me 9psi boost after 4000 rpm, because surely it must still be running at 7psi because the wastegate and ECU govern the amount of boost and that looks still standard to me?

Thanks

Matt

Thats a good question i also have some doubts on that matter...
On a normal setup (ECU) until 3500rpm the boost is 4psi the pressure is escaping through the golden solenoid which has a callibrated hole??
Above that rpm the solenoid closes and the boost is raise to 7psi controled by the small pop valve in the plenum??
Errr what about the wastegate??
If we want to play with the boost i now we shoud block the solenoid pipe but what about tha small valve in the plenum??

thanks

But in my lump i the wast gate actuator is directly connected to the compressor housing
And the golden solenoid is connected to the plenum i think

Thanks for the info.

Now can i put a bleed valve in the pipe to the ECU and vent pressure fooling the ECU?, if so on the three way bleed valve is it ok to vent to atmosphere or does it have to be piped up some how?

Also if i do this with the bleed valve will it give me when setup, 9psi after 3500rpm or all though the rev range?

thanks

you NEED a boost pressure guage! otherwise bang.

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

hope this helps heres my set up

the restrictor is a Flow Regulator you can get from any pnumatic shop.

this is choked down to a wisper using a compressor before fitment.

Sorry for being a grave digger but WHAT ABOUT THAT VAlVE in the plenum??
if we connected directly he actuator the the inlet would the boost be 7psi max?
and were do i get a flyweel puller??
err and dump valves?
if we use a bleed valve to control the boost how do you use the dump vales??
sorry this is probaly very silly questions...

Hi,
@Venom - The valve in the plenum works at about 10 psi, so that should be blocked off. If you connect the actuator to the plenum (don't connect it to the inlet) you will get 4psi , 'cause that's what the actuator is set to. However if you put your bleed valve in this pipe you can set your boost to what you want.
Puller, available from shops - Halfords?, motor factors, Minispares etc.
Dump valves, well I've answered the others use the search button! *wink*
DON'T wind the boost up without going to the rolling road to get the mixture checked!
