A 1380 can't be rebored (well it can but the pistons are rare)

i'm the same as ben, i'd planned for my next motor to be a 1430. dunno why but i just fancy having a bash now that JE have bought out some forged 18cc jobbies... On 20th Oct, 2015 Tom Fenton said:

I'd go 1380. Benross and bud why don't you go the whole hog and go 1460. You can get a nice 86mm forged crank...only trouble is i think there about a grand. :s |

im running a 1380 with a t3 at the moment and loving it, but i just modded what i already had so it was the easy route for me. the biggest problem was getting the CR down. even with 11cc pistons and a head modded by benross ive still only managed about 8.5 - 1
doh! why did i start messing with it!

J.E. make 18cc 1380 pistons,or you could use low hieght(1430/1460) pistons as they stop approx 4mm down the bore on tdc.

The £250 omegas will be cast not forged. JE's are £402 plus vat. Our Accralite our £353 plus vat. Just to give you a bit of info there. I've had a good look at both and there isn't much difference between the 2 on the face of it. The difference comes in the heat treament! OH and the price. |

Benross there being made as we speak!!! Forged of course. Only with 6 or 11cc bowl i think. There is just no demand to get them with a bigger dish. Will let u know when we get them. |

the je pistons use a smaller gudgeon pin than standard (the +020" 18cc ones i have do) so this is extra cost for the rods to be bushed

Our forged pistons use the standard gugeon pin size. No rod mods. TurboDave i'm not clear what your saying???? We do forged piston at 73.5mm with 18cc and 14cc dish. What we can't get done is the pistons ben wants. Big dish for a long stroke engine. Simply because we have to get a batch done and we would never sell them, lol.
